Ligue 1 Match Preview: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Bordeaux

Updated: January 27, 2014

Match Date: 31 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Parc des Princes

Paris Saint-Germain

Following a 5-0 slamming of Nantes, PSG went a little off key as they were defeated 1-2 by Montpellier in Coupe de France. In the French top-tier league, they finished their clash against Guingamp with a draw 1-1. If not for Alex’s late goal, Les Rouge-et-Bleu would have incurred their second (consecutive) defeat in three days. Current rankings still place them at the top of the table, but only three points clear of aggressive runners up AS Monaco.

PSG had something of a point to prove after their cup exit and Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired inches over the bar after 10 minutes at Stade du Roudourou.

PSG’s home record in Ligue 1 remains clean and free from any defeat, having won eight out of their 11 home matches this season (the remaining three were stalemates).

Following four defeats in a row from different competitions, Bordeaux rose from the abyss strong and empowered as they mauled Saint-Etienne with a clean sheet at the Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas on Sunday. Impressive goals from Abdou Traore and Brazilian defender Henrique helped their side gain back their traction in the league.

Francis Gillot’s men are now three spots up from their previous position. At sixth place, they have already earned total points of 34 (level with fifth placers Lyon), scored 29 goals, and conceded 23.

Football betting tip: PSG are very strong at home while Bordeaux still have a few more points to prove when playing outside their court. In addition, none in the sides’ past four meetings rendered the visitors victorious. All silverwares went straight (and easy) to the hosts. In this match, expect PSG extending their win over Bordeaux.
