Match Venue: Allianz Riviera

Nice capped a frustrating Ligue 1 week with a defeat from Montpellier 3-1 on weekend. The result was a shocker to some degree, especially that Nice have quite been more in-form than their opponents for the past few weeks. M’baye Niang and Hilton had put Montpellier on the lead 2-0 before Nice eventually stirred through substitute Alexy Bosetti, but Souleymane Camara sealed the win late on.

Nice are currently ranked at number 13, with 27 points under their belt. Thus far, they have already won eight times this season—three of which were achieved a few weeks before their face-off with Montpellier. The side’s attack is okay, but their defense suffers from a surge in individual errors and the inability to prevent opponents from creating chances.

Lille extended their winless Ligue 1 streak to a fourth week following a low-scoring draw with Rennes on Friday. This also disabled them to close their gap on second-placed Monaco after only one point was obtained from the fixture. Salomon Kalou netted the opening for the hosts in front of thousands of spectators inside the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, but Les Dogues’ initial victory was soon put off when Rennes’ Abdoulaye Doucoure leveled the scoring just seven minutes later.

Lille are still in the top three with 12 wins and five draws in their record. However, they are now seven points behind Monaco and it will take them a few more fixtures to even out their scores again, if not surpass.

Online betting tip: Following a frustrating draw with Rennes, Lille coach René Girard will be more than eager to steal all the points in their next battle. With this, Nice are in a serious risk of falling down in the table. Expect the visitors slam their hosts on a defense-powered clean sheet.
