Nice and Bordeaux both have good Ligue 1 records as far as the new football season is concerned. The former earned four points from their first two matches to rank them in fourth spot while the latter have triumphed in both of their opening battles to place them at the summit of the league table.

OGC Nice

Les Aiglons debuted in the new top-flight season with a stunning win over Toulouse 3-2. This was later followed by a goalless draw with Lorient, which kept them free of goal deficits, so far. They are performing remarkably better than in the previous season, when they kicked off their campaign at the foot of the table and finished it in the bottom half (17th).

In their tourney against Lorient, Nice were unable to net a goal for the first time in seven matches. However, a generally impressive defense also spared them from conceding a clean sheet to their rivals and completed the 90-minute showpiece in a deadlock. While Claude Puel’s men are very strong in attacking down the wings and in creating chances, they must still pay equally significant attention to their aerial acrobatics and defense against long shots.

Girondins de Bordeaux

The current top-notchers of the rankings, Bordeaux might as well replicate their 2008-09 success if they manage to be consistent with their subsequent performances. They opened their new campaign with a handsome clean sheet against host side Montpellier, with Cheick Diabate’s effort in the 17th minute being the only goal scored throughout the battle. In their most recent pitch performance, Willy Sagnol’s lads successfully dominated over Monaco from whom they obtained a 4-1 result (including a brace from Diego Rolan) to inflict their rivals with their second consecutive defeat of the new season. These two stellar accomplishments have inevitably placed Bordeaux at the front of the race and while it is still early to jump to conclusions, the squad will be off to a glorious season in the French top-tier football.

Football betting tip: Bordeaux have the upper hand over this meeting, but Nice will not make it easy for their rivals to claim the silverware.
