Match Date: 21 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Louis II

As of week 25, Monaco’s Champions League berth is almost certain as they now rank second behind PSG in the French top-tier football. They are five point nearer to the table leaders after winning a 2-0 finish against Bastia at Stade Armand Cesari on weekend. James Rodriguez scored in both periods, striking just before the break and adding his second deep into the second half. The goals count as the midfielder’s fourth and fifth of the season, and serve as substantial additions to Les Rouge et Blanc’s nine-match unbeaten streak with a goal difference of 24—the league’s second highest.

Claudio Ranieri flaunt plenty of assets that have made them among the current season’s strongest contenders. They are excellent at shooting from direct free kicks, creating long shot opportunities, and attacking set pieces. Their frequent attempt at through balls has also helped them create chances using this strategy.

Nicolas De Preville scored the only goal to move Reims up to the seventh spot in Ligue 1, winning over Bordeaux who are also strong contenders for European qualification. The visitors dominated the early exchanges but Hubert Fournier’s lads rapidly buled up in the second half and were rewarded with De Preville’s goal. The triumph resulted in Reims’ collecting of 39 points in total and are now only three spots behind Europa League candidates Saint Etienne.

Sports betting tip: While Reims may be strong at counter attacks and creating long shot opportunities, their poor approach to set pieces will prevent them from winning over Monaco. It is very likely that the hosts will earn all the spoils from set piece situations.
