Monaco and Nice’s two-legged meeting from last season produced six points—all for the home team. But this season’s case could be a little different as the top dogs have quite been suffering from a certain degree of inconsistency.

Monaco

Monaco were in a tragic disarray at in the first few weeks of the French top-flight competition. They kicked off their campaign with back-to-back defeats  from Lorient and Bordeaux and plunged into the relegation zone as early as the second week and again in the fifth week. Their last two matches, however, have shown some signs of progress in their skills set—particularly in the defense as they have won against Guingamp and Montpellier on clean sheets. These helped them bounce back into the top half of the rankings but they still need a more massive attacking prowess in order to fully recover and reach higher league positions.

Nice

Earning 10 points from their matches in the past seven weeks, Nice have found it tough to regain their top four position (which they held in the first two weeks) in Ligue 1. Their past five meetings only provided them enough points to cling on the mid-table, posting wins against Metz and Lille but incurring defeats from Bordeaux, Marseille, and Nantes. The defense—particularly on counter attacks—is noticeably problematic, not to mention that they also suffer from a chronic dilemma on individual errors.

Sports betting tip: Monaco and Nice will share the points.
