Olympique de Marseille v Borussia Dortmund - UEFA Champions League

Match Date: 02 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Vélodrome

Marseille

Losing points in three consecutive (and different) matches, Marseille have come to a personal rock bottom. The side were rendered failures when they met up with Lyon for the Coupe de la Ligue 2-1 and was followed by another defeat six days later, this time from Nice at the Coupe de France 4-5. In one of their most recent French top-tier football matches, Les Phocéens yet again suffered a defeat when they were trounced by Monaco on a two-goal clean sheet. These successive upsets will take a major toll on the side’s subsequent fixtures, particularly on the part of their self-esteem.

After reaching the top five for several weeks (and even the top spot at one point), José Anigo’s squad are now down to number nine with 32 points. Their current record stands at W9-D5-L7.

Toulouse

Toulouse opened the year jubilantly with back-to-back victories at Romorantin and Bordeaux in the Coupe de France and Ligue 1, respectively. However, they also capped their latest fixtures with defeats, succumbing to Monaco in the French top-flight tournament and to Moulins in the premier knockout cup competition. The mixed results can be confusing, not to mention that the side are in the mid-table—the cluster in the rankings notorious for inconsistency. That said, TFC must catapult more impressive displays in order for them to gain back control of their matches.

Presently at number 11, Toulouse are at risk of tumbling further down the table with six of their men unavailable: Abdennour, Chantome, Moubandje, Ninkov, Sana, and Soukouna. The troupe are also in dire need of improvement in their defense, with remarkable weaknesses in preventing the opposition from creating chances, avoiding individual errors, and fouling in dangerous areas.

Online betting tip: With several players sidelined and incurring more defeats than Marseille in their past several face-offs, Toulouse will lose all the points in this fixture.
