Updated: November 27, 2013

Match Date: 29 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Vélodrome

Sitting comfortably at the table’s fourth highest spot, Marseille vaunt half of their fixtures to have ended in rousing successes. These, along with three draws, gave them 24 points to rank side by side with equally stunning troupes, Monaco and Nantes.

Les Phocéens’ last two matches did not disappoint fans. The back-to-back victories secured the side more seats as online betting favorites. Their clash with Ajaccio, their most recent rivals, pulled in a pleasing 1-3 result that solicited three points to further inflate the team’s achievement this season. That tourney showcased a magnificent Payet-Thauvin tandem, as well as a promising maneuver by Gignac. Only Perozo scored for the rivals, which was an equalizer to Payet’s opening.

Five matches have passed and Montpellier remain winless. While their last three finished in draws, the points they scored from them were not enough to propel a decent ranking. The side are currently in the table’s bottom quartile, and are just two places away from the most dreaded zone.

La Paillade continue to struggle with their defense, with particular mishaps in protecting the lead, set pieces, and defending against powerful players. However, they remain resilient despite all their difficulties, and the challenging run in the current season is just yet another gauge of their ability to cope. Their aptitude on aerial duels would seem to be their best saving glory to keep them outside of the rankings’ abyss.

Football betting tip: Against a side that have been doing very well in their most recent fixtures, Montpellier will have to endure another assault from their rivals. Scoring is never impossible; in fact, a narrow difference is plausible. However, this match will ultimately finish in favor of the hosts. Betting for Marseille from 1.84 to 2.08 is a good decision to make.
