Ligue 1 Match Preview: Lyon vs. Evian TG

Updated: January 21, 2014

Match Date: 26 January 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade de Gerland

With their 2-0 victory over Reims at the Stade August-Delaune, Lyon extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions. Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring for Les Gones in the first-half before Gueida Fofana nettedd his first goal of the season six minutes into full-time to secure the points for Les Gones.

At number eight, Rémi Garde still have to earn more victories in order for them to gain back the top spot (which they held in the season’s first two weeks).  They started the season very impressively, but they soon weathered following an inconsistent streak of matches. They have won eight times this season, drawn seven times, and beaten six times. But despite the fluctuations, Lyon could still muster enough faculties to outwit their future nemeses and gain control of their fixtures.

Evian TG

Evian battled a match against Rennes which ultimately resulted in a uninspiring, goalless deadlock—a result that did very little to both sides’ standing in the league table. Evian are on a fifth consecutive week without a win, through two draws gave them additional (albeit, a few) points. They have so far been very challenged for the majority of their run this season, earning only five wins and six draws from 21 matches. They are presently positioned at number 17, just four points above the relegation zone.

Online betting tip: Judging on their current form and past encounters, Lyon have the greater odds at winning this face-off.
