Lens and Reims last competed in Ligue 2 more than two years ago, when none of them clearly dominated over the other. Since 2008, however, the hosts have been winning more frequently than their visitors. In their last four meetings, for example, Lens were rendered victorious twice while Reims only did so once.

RC Lens

After two matches of zero-yielding results in the French top-tier football, Lens have finally earned their first win of the season after they obtained a clean sheet against top-flight powerhouse Lyon to score one of the tournament’s most intriguing upsets, thus far. Lalaina Nomenjanahary scored early in the face-off when he successfully converted Yoann Touzghar’s pass in the 11th minute. This made Nomenjanahary the very first player to net a goal for Les Sang et Or in the side’s return to Ligue 1. Last season in the second division football, the 28-year-old midfielder scored four. Lens can keep up with the rigor of the French top-tier league if they continue making efficient use of their most talented players.

Stade de Reims

Reims remain winless in Ligue 1. While they managed to share the spoils with PSG in their opening battle, they failed to make substantial improvements in their subsequent matches. Instead, they dwindled rather rapidly as they saw themselves succumb to such squads as Saint-Etienne 3-1 and Caen 0-2. These inevitably took a toll on their league position. In fact, they are now marooned in the bottom two and are likely to remain there if their defense would stay frail. More attention and opportunities must be given to Prince Oniangue and Antoine Devaux—the only players who scored a goal for Reims this season—in order to improve Jean-Luc Vasseur’s team’s scoring record.

Online betting tip: Lens will bag a second straight win from this match against Reims.
