Updated: February 20, 2014

Match Date: 22 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade municipal de Roudourou

Guingamp’s attempt to deprive Sochaux of obtaining three points went unsuccessful as the homes side and relegation candidates rallied late to seal a 1-0 clean sheet victory. Stoppila Sunzu was the visitors’ prime target of attack, but the agile defender intelligently barged into Guingamp’s defense and fired a strike six minutes into full time. The result locked Jocelyn Gourvennec’s men at number 16 while Sochaux made it within six points of 17th placers Evian TG.

Winning only six times this season, Guingamp are in high risk of falling into the danger zone. They have been there twice this season, and it is likely for them to go back to this bottom part of the table if they remain meek at doing the real job, particularly in set piece-related duties.

Nantes lost two points in their brawl against Nice at the Allianz Riviera as the visitors held them in a goalless draw. The deadlock ensured Les Aiglons maintain an unbeaten home record in for 2014, although Claude Puel’s lads are at risk of being pulled down into the relegation battle with only 13 fixtures remaining.

Outside their court, Nice have a rather ugly record. Nine out of their 12 most recent away matches (in all competitions) finished disappointingly, with only two results flaunting high points and one goalless draw making a slight impact. Their worst away performance this Ligue 1 season was their fixture against Lyon on September, when they were beaten on a 4-0 final tally.

Online betting tip: Guingamp’s home record is almost as dissatisfying as Nice’s away scores. The sides are only four spots apart in the league table, with the visitors only above the hosts by five points. Expect this battle to conclude in a stalemate.
