While both Bordeaux and Bastia are positioned in the top half of the league table as of the third week of Ligue 1 fixtures, the home team have shown more breathtaking performances than what their guests did. In fact, they are currently on top of the rankings while Bastia are nine spots away.

Girondins de Bordeaux

So far, Bordeaux are the only squad in the French top-tier football to score a perfect record in their first three matches into the season. This apparently made them the leaders among all clubs, with a nine-point score and a goal difference of +6 to brag about. They opened their campaign with a clean sheet victory against Montpellier courtesy of Cheick Tidiane Diabate’s first-half goal and Cedric Carrasso’s excellent goalkeeping. The success was further strengthened in their second appearance in the competition when they trounced Monaco 4-1 with a brace from Diego Rolan and penalties from Emiliano Sala and Wahbi Khazri. In their third and most recent tourney, the Girondins again proved superior of their rivals as they netted three goals—from Diabate, Maurice-Belay, and Sertic—against Nice while only conceding one. Bordeaux currently have the most number of goal scorers.

SC Bastia

Inconsistency is Bastia’s principal enemy as far as their form is concerned. The side have already scored four goals from all their three opening matches in the league, three of which were netted in the season debut (which were all equalized by Marseille 3-3) and one from their most recent battle against Toulouse from whom they claimed a clean sheet at home 1-0. Their second match rendered them goalless while their opponents, PSG, successfully found the net twice. Turchini presently rank in the ninth place alongside Nice and Lorient who also obtained all three possible results and a goal difference of -1.

Sports betting tip: Bordeaux will dominate the scoring over, but Bastia may not necessarily leave the pitch goalless.
