Ligue 1 Match Preview: Bordeaux vs. Ajaccio

Updated: November 26, 2013

Match Date: 01 December 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Jacques Chaban-Delmas

A sprightly equalizer from Cheick Diabate in the 64th minute was the highlight of the 1-1 draw between Rennes and Bordeaux last weekend. In what appeared to be a defensive clash, Bordeaux were able to cancel out Kana-Biyik’s opening goal in just a minute. The tourney was already being touted to end in a goal-less deadlock, but when Rennes finally found the net, a home win was picked up as the most probable result. Diabate then, prevented it from happening.

The deadlock marks Les Girondins’ 10th point-merited result this season. They are currently ranked at number 12, with their best scoring fixture recorded on week nine (against Sochaux 4-1). Along with having excellent skills in stealing the ball, Francis Gillot’s players have also shown improvements in their ability to create chances and long shot opportunities.

Still in dire need of a victory, Ajaccio are in high risk of going back to the French second-tier league. The side have been winless in seven matches running, with most of those fixtures finishing in defeats. As a result, L’ours have stayed in the table’s most dreaded zone for 12 consecutive weeks now.

There is barely a particular skill that Ajaccio are excellent at. Instead, their weaknesses are very well-defined. Possession, creation of scoring chances, defense against long shots, and avoidance of offside are just some of the faculties that the Corsican team have frail knack for. They are also very weak at defending set pieces and often create fouls in dangerous areas.

Online betting tip: Apparently, Bordeaux are in the more reasonable position to claim victory from this fixture than Ajaccio. There is a very slim chance that the latter will pick up points from this match, but a surprise result is nonetheless possible. Placing wager from 1.86 to 2.06 for the hosts could produce good figures.
