Bastia

Match Date: 15 February 2014 (local)

Match Venue: Stade Armand-Cesari-Furiani

Bastia

Bastia play rigorously at their own turf, winning the majority of their home matches in Ligue 1 this season. Of the 11 fixtures they had, only one went below expectations, two were stalemates, while all the others were resounding successes. Overall, they vaunt 30 points from 23 matches, allowing them to place in the top dozen.

I Turchini fly high when it comes to counter attacks and the defense of set pieces; these are perhaps their best characteristics to complement their suave playing style. However, the side are quite undernourished at aerial duels and may need further tutelage from Frédéric Hantz to augment abilities in keeping possession of the ball. They are particularly very incapable at defending against through ball attacks.

Monaco

Monaco may have achieved more wins at home, but they have incurred fewer defeats away. Of the 12 matches they had outside their stadium, only one ended negatively; draws and victories were almost even, raking five and six respectively. The side are still pinned in the second highest position, prevented by PSG from regaining the top spot by five points.

Les Rouge et Blanc are among this season’s most consistent players. They barely went below the top three for the majority of their campaign and have actually been the league leaders for several weeks early in the tournament. While the current frontrunners are proving highly aggressive, team boss Claudio Ranieri remains positive that his men would be able to clinch the championship by the end of the season.

Football betting tip: Bastia and Monaco are very well endowed in terms of playing in their current arrangement (Bastia home, Monaco away). However, the visitors have a much more reliable form and versatility than their hosts that they may actually earn all the spoils from this meeting. A clean sheet is difficult to achieve, but a good lead is highly plausible for Monaco.
