Bastia failed to widen their gap against Lorient after they were thumped by a powerful four-goal assault by fifth placers Lyon. Goals from Bafetimbi Gomis, Nabil Fekir, Bakary Kone, and Alexandre Lacazette ensured a productive campaign for Les Gones, while Francois Modesto’s second half effort was the only goal netted by Turchini. The result makes Bastia level on points with Nantes, who are above them only by goal difference.

Lille’s effort to remain within the top three was even more strengthened by a recent victory over Bordeaux. This also facilitated Les Dogues’ better chances at earning sure seeding in the Champions League next season, although they would need to win all their remaining matches to achieve such a feat (provided that Monaco will incur some shortcomings).

Bastia rendered their last few matches with a series of confusing results: victories over Reims and Ajaccio, a draw with Sochaux, and defeats from Nice, Rennes, Evian, and as mentioned, Lyon. Lille are quite on the opposite board. They have been unbeaten for five straight matches with a loss from Rennes in the Coupe de France being the only crevice in their recent form.

Frédéric Hantz’s men have never won over Lille in their last four face-offs, although one match rendered them level. René Girard’s players have consistently shown dominance over their opponents, scoring seven goals against Bastia’s two.

Sports betting tip: Bastia will move father away from the mid-table with a possible defeat from Lille.
