2014-15 Ligue 1 Recap Bordeaux

Some of last season’s best squads are making a rather disappointing stint this time around. A defeat in the debut week might be tolerable, but a second consecutive upset in their fixtures is totally unacceptable. There is something weird happening in the likes of Monaco and Lens, both front runners in their respective leagues last season. The sides have so far been disappointing in Ligue 1’s first two match weeks, when both of them failed to earn at least one point.

Meanwhile, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne are making some astonishing performances in the tournament. They have successfully won their first two top-flight matches and are currently positioned in the top two places of the league table. Coincidentally, they scored identical records, so far: five goals netted, one goal conceded, six points earned.

Defending champions and perennial sports betting favorites Paris Saint-Germain are also racing towards the top honor with a victory they earned from Bastia via clean sheet 2-0. This was at the back of their “okay” opener where they held Reims in a 2-2 draw.

Five other clubs bagged victories (and consequently, losses for their opponents) in the French top-tier football’s second week. They include Lille, Guingamp, Toulouse, Montpellier, and the most impressive of all, Rennes. The latter scored the most goals for the league, thus far—all netted in their match versus Evian TG 6-2.

Les Girondins, Les Verts, and Les Parisiens currently have the best head start among all clubs while Les Sang et Or, Les Rouges et Blancs, and Les Croix de Savoie are all in danger of being relegated from the competition.
