A Standard Liège-versus-Rijeka fixture have never occurred before in any of UEFA’s top competitions, although both sides have already played in the Champions and Europa Leagues.

Standard Liège

Last season, Standard Liège entered the tournament by way of the second qualifying round which they eventually dominated following a 2-6 aggregate rout at the Icelandic club KR. They would go on to win the next round and the play-offs, thus allowing them to earn seeding in the Group stage. Unfortunately, they did not manage to win in any of their matches from this stage and were eliminated from the tournament after they ranked last in their group. As for their most recent matches, Los Rouches have been winless in six consecutive appearances. They were beaten 5-2 by Mouscron-Peruwelz in the Pro League and were rendered goalless by Gent and Zenit.

If not for the defeat they incurred from Lokomotiva Zagreb three weeks ago, Rijeka would have managed to keep a perfect form since May of the current year. They have won 20 out of their last 21 matches, with their best result obtained against Vikingur 4-0 in the UEL preliminaries. However, Riječki bijeli were not the best team to emerge from their group in the last edition of the Europa League. They finished last in Group I, behind Lyon, Real Betis, and Vitoria de Guimaraes. While they seized four points, they never won in their six Group-stage fixtures.

Europa League betting tip: Standard Liège will extend their winless streak by drawing with Rijeka.
