Panathinaikos and Dinamo Moscow were both absent from last season’s UEFA competitions as they both failed to either earn a berth via the domestic leagues or obtain license from UEFA. The sides, however, already have experience in the continental tilts—at least in the preliminary rounds.

Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos

Panathinaikos failed to qualify for the last edition of the Europa League as they only placed sixth in the Super League and failed to obtain a UEFA license. Nevertheless, they do not necessarily have enough experience to battle out in a continental tournament. In fact, they have once been runners up in the Champions League in 1971, prevented only by Ajax from clinching the title. More recently, they have been posting excellent results from their last six matches in all competitions—capped by their 6-2 two-legged rout at Midtjylland in the UEL play-offs as well as clean sheets against Panachaiki and Viitorul in club friendlies.

FC Dynamo Moscow

Although Dynamo Moscow have already reached the final of the now-defunct Euro Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972, they have yet to win a title in any of UEFA’s top two continental competitions. In fact, they have never reached the Group stage of the tilts—only until now. The past season as well as last summer were excellent play periods for Belo-golubye. They finished fourth in the Russian Premier League and were therefore given automatic berth in the Europa League third qualifying round. For their 12 most recent matches, they have only been defeated once. They pulled off notable wins against the likes of Rostov and Ural in the Russian top-flight football as well as Ironi Kiryat Shmona and Omonia Nicosia in the UEL preliminary rounds.

Europa League betting tip: Dynamo Moscow will earn all the marbles from Panathinaikos, but the latter will not leave the pitch goalless.
