The opening matches for Group B have only produced two fixtures instead of three. Andorra, Wales, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Cyprus all made their respective September debuts but Israel and Belgium had to postpone their tourney to March 2015 due to the recent Gaza-Israel conflict. Hence, only the first four sides have been taken into account for the initial group rankings.

Andorra vs. Wales

While it was quite predictable of who will earn all the spoils, the battle between Andorra and Wales turned out more entertaining than what was expected. Ildefons Lima made an early threat to football betting front-runners Wales by scoring the opener from the penalty spot after just six minutes. It was the European minnows’ very first competitive goal since September 2010 against their Welsch opponents. Gareth Bale, without a doubt, emerged as Wales’ top hero as he delivered both the equalizer (header) and the decisive goal against Andorra. The Real Madrid player struck a stunning shot that curled into the net and then sent zealous supporters back to their seats after they had crashed over an advertising hoarding to celebrate.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs. Cyprus

World Cup Group stage finalists Bosnia-Herzegovina incurred a shocking 1-2 trouncing by lowly Cyprus in the first round of Euro 2016 qualifications. Stuttgart star Vedad Ibisevic gave Bosnia—ranked 19th and a massive 121 places higher than their opponents in the world rankings—an early lead. But Cyprus retaliated excellently and goals at the end of both periods from Demetris Christofi turned the game on their favor and earned the small island-nation a well-deserved victory.
