Turkey and Czech Republic’s most recent meeting rendered the away side as the winning team. However, their match prior to that (2010) also produced three points for the home squad. Their upcoming faceoff should produce some thrill-inducing stunts and high-quality entertainment.

A 3-0 away loss to Iceland was definitely an ugly start for Turkey’s Euro 2016 qualifier campaign. The defense went awry and their attacking maneuvers proved fruitless. While a few chances were created, none was successfully given clearance to convert a goal. In addition, team coach Fatih Terim has expressed disappointment to some of his players who he felt did not perform 100 percent to their abilities, although he refused to drop names.

“Iceland played better than us and we have to congratulate them,” said Terim. “We have to be realistic, we deserved the defeat. Reduced to ten men while you are already 1-0 down, is not an easy thing to overcome.”

Czech Republic’s 2-1 home thrashing at the Netherlands was one of the highlights of the opening matches for the Euro 2016 qualifiers. Netherlands, who placed third in the Brazil World Cup last July, lost the chance to hold their opponents in a draw. Borek Dockal put Pavel Vrba’s side in front in the 21st minute before Stefan de Vrij leveled the scoring in the second half. The battle looked to be ending in a deadlock until Vaclav Pilar dramatically netted the match’s decisive goal in extra time.

“I am excited and very satisfied,” exclaimed Vrba. “It was not an easy victory, but at the end we were luckier. In the previous games our opponents were always luckier. However, all the four friendly games have paid off, even though we did not win any of them.”

Football betting tip: Turkey and Czech Republic will drop two points apiece.
