Norway and Bulgaria’s past matches have resulted in very tight clashes. Bulgaria have won slightly more frequently than their rivals in their last six meetings, but those were more than a decade ago and many things have changed (for the better or for the worse) since then.

Norway kicked off their Euro qualifying campaign with a disappointing 0-2 home loss to Italy. However, this was later turned around when they met Malta at Ta’Qali. The squad earned a clean sheet against their hosts and scored three goals through a Mats Møller Dæhli opener and a Joshua King brace.

“We started well, scored an early goal and controlled the match from there,” recounted Norway coach Per-Mathias Høgmo. “This win gives us motivation for our next match. It is important to find the positives from every game and keep working on those. Joshua King is playing well, let’s hope he continues his fine form.”

Bulgaria spent their first two fixtures in the Group stage of Euro qualifications split between a win and defeat. They debuted in the competition with two goals scored against Azerbaijan, winning the entire match along the process. In their second stint, the squad lost all the spoils to Croatia after they scored zero goals and conceded one.

“I accept the defeat, but not the manner of it,” said team manager Luboslav Penev. “Key players did not show their true qualities. I did not expect to lose, but we could not win the match with that kind of performance. Maybe there will be changes for the next game. I am happy with the players I have at my disposal – I’m not complaining. But in 90 minutes they have to show the best of themselves.”

Football betting tip: Bulgaria will be beaten by Norway.
