Austria and Sweden have already played in 34 matches all-in-all, 16 of which were won by the former and 13 by the latter. The remaining five were stalemates. Their last two meetings provided them with one victory apiece.

Austria

Although they have already spent seven non-consecutive appearances in the FIFA World Cup, Austria had a limited success in the European Championships. They gained berth in the UEFA tournament only once, which they obtained as co-hosts of the 2008 edition. The side never went past the group stage and had to endure beatings from their significantly more powerful neighbors, Germany. In recent times, however, Das Team have had some successful stints in numerous competitions. Their last five matches (one in a World Cup qualification and four in friendlies), for example, the squad earned three wins, two draws, and zero defeats.

Sweden

Sweden debuted in the European Championship in 1992 as host of the UEFA event, successfully claiming a semi-final finish after they lost 3-2 to Germany. The following edition, however, the squad were unable to gain back their berth in the competition after failing to show sufficient strength in the qualifications. But since 2000, they have been mainstays to Europe’s most important international tilt and have reached the quarter-finals once and the Group stage thrice. At the FIFA World Cup, they are a frequent participant. In fact, they have been part of the top four a total of four times, one of which gave them a runners-up finish in 1958. They, however, did not make it to the 2010 and 2014 editions.

Football betting tip: Austria will be declared victors at the expense of Sweden, albeit on a narrow margin.
