Updated: October 13, 2014

Match Date: 14 October 2014 (local time)

Venue: Stadion Gelsenkirchen

The pressure is on to the recently crowned World Cup champion, Germany after the squad suffered a humiliating loss to Poland. Die Mannschaft lost its chance to score 3 points after Poland unleashed a massive attack.

The contenders

Despite having numerous scoring chances, not a single soul of Die Mannschaft’s squad was able to convert those possibilities. As a result, a more clinical Poland took the limelight away from the heavy sports betting favorite.
The said loss also forced the World Cup champion to settle on the 3rd spot of  Group D.

Joachim Low admitted his side’s shortcomings, but explained that the loss will hardly make an impact in their European Championship campaign.

Republic Of Ireland

The Republic Of Ireland just clinched a massive win when it thrashed Gibraltar. The match ended in a 7-0 victory, with Robbie Keane scoring a hat-trick for Republic of Ireland.

The said win could readily give the team the confidence that they need when they visit the tournament’s title contender, Germany.

Possible head turners

Die Mannschaft’s Thomas Muller will always be a big threat to Republic of Ireland’s visiting squad. However, the host’s defence will be readily challenged by Keane’s presence.

Germany will most likely use its home court advantage to gain momentum and collect points. Yet, the Republic of Ireland will try to do everything to cause another major upset.
