EURO 2016 Preview: Finland vs. Romania

One can only expect a down the wire match between Finland and Romania. These squads were both forced to settle for an even steven finish during their previous matches and it is less likely that they would settle for a similar result again.


The contenders


After dominating the match against Faroe Island during the first installment of the qualifiers, the Eagle-Owls were expecting another victory under its belt. Unfortunately, the team had to face the aggressive Greeks, which are a bit desperate in clinching their first win.


Greece enjoyed a momentary lead during the said during the said encounter. But a quick and clinical Jarkko Hurme snatched the equalizer for Finland.
Despite the success of the late rally, Finland’s head honcho, Mixu Paatelainen expressed his dissatisfaction with the materialization of Greece’s temporary lead. Nevertheless, Paatelainen took the positives from the outcome of the said match and manifested his eagerness in helping the squad snatch another 3  points during their upcoming clash against Romania.



Similar to the online betting favorite, Finland, Romania was keen on securing another set of 3 points to strengthen its campaign. Hungary, however, caused an upset when Balazs Dzsudsak netted a goal during the remaining minutes of the match.


Romania’s team captain, Razvan Rat and head honcho, Victor Piturca were both dissatisfied with the results and stressed that the team did not deserve the result.


Possible head turners

Disappointing injuries will sideline Dorin Goian and Ciprian Marica for the upcoming match against Finland.


With two (2) of his poachers kept at bay, Piturca hopes that Bogdan Mitrea will help fill the void that the  said players left.
