Generally, Manchester United are being coerced in an increasingly vulnerable trend while Bayern Munchen are improving an already-perfect scoring façade. The English side found some loopholes in their playing mechanism under the tutelage of David Moyes and displayed some of their most frustrating performances in years.

The German squad are doing the opposite. Jupp Heynckes left Der FCB last season on a high note and reserved tremendous pressure on the subsequent coach Pep Guardiola. However, unlike Alex Ferguson’s successor, Guardiola was [and continues to be] absolutely suave and impressive. Bayern achieved three different titles—Championship, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup—under his mentorship and the players are already 100 percent certain of bagging the Bundesliga championship again after they posted a 25-point lead over their nearest rivals with only a few matches remaining. United, by contrast, are hardly making an appearance in the top six of the English Premier League.

The last time United and Bayern engaged in a brawl, the former were declared the winners. But this was already more than three years ago when Ferguson was still the English club’s top brass. Recent performances from both troupes tell a significantly different story. While Bayern have been unbeaten for the last 14 matches (in all competitions, including friendlies), United have had six defeats from the same number of fixtures. In addition, German player and 2010 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot awardee Thomas Muller ranks among the 16 highest scoring players in the current Champions League season so far, while none of the English ensemble made it through the list.

Champions League betting tip: The defending champions, Bayern Munchen, should look forward to another Champions League victory.
