Champions League Match Preview: Juventus vs. Copenhagen

Updated: November 20, 2013

Match Date: 27 November 2013 (local)

Match Venue: Juventus Stadium

Their fixture at home for the first leg of Champions League group stage competition with Juventus was marred by a lame deadlock with the visitors. Copenhagen were stolen of two points by the Italian powerhouse after they held them in a low-scoring draw. But despite the frustrating netting, the tourney turned out to be a remarkable spree of defensive stunts.

Nicolai Jorgensen opened the scoring for the hosts in the 15th minute, before Fabio Quagliarella struck an equalizer 10 minutes into the second period. Despite Copenhagen achieving the early lead, Juventus were the ones who created more chances. However, almost all went to garbage after none of the Italian players were able to do conversion.

By the 65th minute, Quagliarella was close to scoring a second goal for his team, except that his header from Lichsteiner’s cross brushed the top of the bar and bounced away to safety. About 20 minutes before full-time, Jorgensen displayed an odd Copenhagen attack, characterized by a shot from 20 yards and a narrow maneuver over Buffon’s crossbar.

Arturo Vidal had an opportunity to place Juventus in the lead after amassing Tevez’s headed flick, but his insufficient effort rebounded away off Wiland’s chest.

Champions League betting tip: Current Group B standings place Copenhagen side by side with Juventus, with the former ahead of the latter by just one point. In this upcoming tourney, a winning squad should be expected. Juventus’ appetite to convert chances this time around will grow even stronger. Wagering for the side on 1.97 could underscore a reasonable win.
