Two of Spain’s most prominent clubs would fight neck-and-neck (for two legs) in the Champions League quarter finals in a bid to advance into the semi-finals. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are currently in a very close fight at the Spanish top-tier league—separated only by a miniscule margin—and each is considered deserving to seize the title. Barca have dominated the majority of the campaign but the recent adrenaline-fueled robustness of Los Colchoneros helped them attain the summit for three non-consecutive instances (which include the current rankings). This face-off in the EUFA top-tier competition should then yield displays as tremendous as anyone would imagine.

Thus far, Gerardo Martino’s men have been unbeaten for four matches (all competitions) while the Diego Simeone side bagged points for a sixth straight match. At the Champions League, the latter have a slightly much better form than their opponents, having scored seven victories in eight fixtures; the former earned six out of the same number of matches. Atletico also have two of the current season’s highest scoring players: Diego Costa (4th, seven goals) and Raul Garcia (9th, four goals) while Barcelona has one, the front-man himself Lionel Messi (3rd, eight goals).

Although Atletico are statistically quite more dominant than Barcelona, they have never won over their hosts in their last nine face-offs. Four of these matches (which were the most recent ones) ended on stalemates while the rest of the number had been dominated by Barcelona. There is definitely one huge tank of talents in both sides, and everything would only boil down as to which squad boast of the better team work and management.

Champions League betting tip: As with the past few results, this battle will conclude in a very thrilling draw.
