Atletico Madrid

Making substantial successes in various competitions, particularly in La Liga, Atletico Madrid have easily made themselves one of the strongest teams in Spain. Diego Simeone has built a brilliant squad of fearless attackers and well-accomplished defenders.

While the Champions League’s Group G may have been among the laziest collections of teams in this season’s group stages, Atletico did what they needed to do: to emerge victorious. They joined city rivals Real Madrid as one of only two teams to finish with 16 points, going undefeated. In their first brawl against AC Milan in the Round of 16, Los Colchoneros won the scoring rather comfortably with clean sheet, thanks to Diego Costa’s late winner.

AC Milan

Milan entered the Champions League via the play-off round, twice confronting Dutch powerhouse PSV. Milan were able to win the matches via aggregate scoring to qualify for the group stage. After six matches, they ended up as runners up (thus, their entry to the Round of 16), behind Spanish club Barcelona.

Milan have been underperforming this season, and they need to do something to change the trend. While they may be a team of supremely talented lads, AC Milan have never seized a trophy since Massimiliano Allegri’s first year with the club when they won the club’s 18th Serie A title in 2011 (their most recent). He was then removed from the post in January and was replaced by Clarence Seedorf. Under the new coach, the side made two wins, one draw, and one defeat in Serie A. They also lost 2-1 to Udinese in the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia.

Football betting tip: Atletico Madrid will advance into the next round leaving behind Milan with a defeat via clean sheet.
