In the last two matches that Shakhtar and Porto have dueled, the latter have emerged to be the stronger side on both occasions. But those were three years ago, and it is possible that things might change this time around.

Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar’s Group stage debut in the Champions League gave them just enough point[s] to shun the bottom zone. They held Athletic Bilbao in a draw, with each of them securing zero goals in the process. In the domestic league, Hirnyky rank second to Dnipro as of the Ukrainian Premier League’s seventh week of fixtures. Thus far, they have already won in six top-flight battles, with one loss incurred from Zorya. In addition, the squad denied Poltava of winning a Ukrainian Cup honor as they trounced them in an impressive 1-5 away triumph.

Porto

Leading their cluster in group H, Porto proved to be a major challenge for their group-mates and for other sides in the competition as well. The outstanding 6-0 home thrashing at BATE Borisov was the most successful win of the Champions League Group round, this far. Brahimi opened the scoring in the fifth minute before he completed a hat-trick on both halves. His teammates—Martinez, Adrian, and Aboubakar—rounded up the win, leaving BATE with zero chances at retaliation. In the Portuguese top-flight football, Dragões have already scored 12 points in six fixtures, helping them rank second (to Benfica) in the domestic league table.

Champions League betting tip: As with their past meetings, Porto will win against Shakhtar.
