CSKA Moskva and Bayern Munich debuted into the Group stage of the Champions League with contrasting results. While the Russian side lost all the spoils to their rivals, the German team soared with a clean sheet victory against their opponents.

CSKA Moskva

The last five matches of CSKA have nearly been perfect, except for a bizarre disaster that they incurred at the hands of Roma in the Champions League. Although they scored in the last few minutes of the battle through an Ahmed Musa effort, their Italian rivals have already netted five goals (including an own goal from Ignashevich) in the first 50 minutes of the meeting. It was a very ugly start for a UEFA campaign, which looked more frustrating and annoying after the squad’s next three matches (in the Russian Premier League and Cup) concluded in victories.

Bayern Munich

The German giants are very much determined to gain back the UEFA title, which they last won in the 2012-13 season. Unbeaten in eight consecutive battles, including one in the Champions League, Der FCB looked very much in-form to overcome their challenges. They exited the last installment of the continental contest with a painful (and embarrassing) 5-0 semi-final loss to eventual champions Real Madrid. This time around, they have already mustered all the necessary skills, experience, and intelligence to out-perform all their adversaries—especially that many of their players have just won the FIFA World Cup last summer.

Champions League betting tip: Bayern Munich can pull this match off at the expense of CSKA Moskva.
