Almost straddling the same wavelengths in the power spectrum, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have spent their last five meetings on even results. Both sides won twice and tied once, although on aggregate scores, the English side are very slightly dominant.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund have generally been successful in their campaigns for various competitions in the last few months, having won eight of their last 11 fixtures. The victories include 1-5 away domination over Rot-Weiss Essen in a club friendly as well as a 2-0 home rout at Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup. At the start of the new football season, however, the squad dangerously faltered as they conceded two goals and all three points to Bayer Leverkusen. Luckily, they were able to obtain a 2-3 away win against Augsburg in the following week. At the Champions League last season, meanwhile, Die Borussen dominated their group and finished their campaign as quarter-finalists.

Arsenal finished in the Round of 16 last season after losing to Bayern Munich on aggregate scores. At the Group round, they ended up as second placers, just behind Dortmund. As for their most recent performances, The Gunners have quite been unlucky in the new season of the Premier League. While they managed to inflict a defeat to Besiktas in the UEFA play-offs, they only obtained stalemates from Everton and Leicester City in the English top-flight competition.

Champions League betting tip: Arsenal will be narrowly beaten by Borussia Dortmund.
